Colleen Marie Coté Glace Bay It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the passing of Colleen Marie Coté, age 64, on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the Glace Bay Hospital, surrounded by her loving family after a short, courageous battle with cancer. Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Mary and James O’Neill. Colleen was best known in the community as a long time employee of Sears, and later the credit union. She enjoyed bowling and taking walks with her friends; however, her true passion was caring for her family and beautiful grandchildren, who loved her dearly. Colleen is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Ronald “Ronnie” Coté; her son, Steven (Brooke) Coté of Ottawa, ON; daughter, Danielle (Tim) Coté-Shay of Amherst, NS; and her seven precious grandchildren, Cole, Connor, Caitlin, Scarlett, Reed, Lauren and Riley. She is also survived by her sister, Delores Holtman of Whitby, ON; her brothers, Kevin and Dan O’Neill, both of Toronto, ON, Bernie (Dorothy) O’Neill of Glace Bay; mother-in-law, Cassie Coté of Glace Bay; sisters-in law Debbie (Kirby) Turner, and Francine (John) O’Neill, both of Glace Bay, and Janice O’Neill of New Waterford; brother-in-law Gerard (Barb) Coté of Glace Bay; as well as many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Jerome and Gerard O’Neill and brother-in-law Piet Holtman. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS 902-849-4199. The Funeral mass will be held at 10 am on Thursday, February 22, 2018 at St. Anne’s Church, Main St., Glace Bay. Reception to follow at St. Anne’s Church. Donations can be made to the Glace Bay High School to support a scholarship/bursary which will be established in Colleen’s name, or the charity of your choice. The family would also like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital Stroke Unit; Habour View Hospital; and, the Glace Bay Hospital Third Floor for their compassionate support and care demonstrated to Colleen.
