Obituary of Debbie MacLeod

It is with great sadness that we, the family, announce the passing of Mary Deborah Ann MacLeod, 69, on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Sydney, Debbie was the daughter of the late Murray and Delma (Gauthier) Snow. She worked at Kentucky Fried Chicken in her younger years where she met her future husband, Red. Following the birth of their only child Allan, Debbie took on the full-time job of stay-at-home mom. In her later years, she returned to work at the Casino in Membertou until her retirement in 2020. Debbie is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Murray (Red) Donald MacLeod, son, Allan (Emily) and two grandchildren, Nora and Cohen. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Sylvia, and brothers, Dwight (Sharon) and Douglas (Donna, deceased). Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, 902 539-7175. Interment will take place at a later date in St. James Cemetery, Big Bras D’or. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit and Cape Breton Cancer Centre.
