Dorothy Marie Turner Glace Bay, NS December 6, 1947 – August 30, 2023 It is with deep sadness that we, the family, regretfully announce the passing of Dorothy Marie Turner of Tower Road, NS, at the age of seventy-five. Mom passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023, in the Glace Bay General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Glace Bay, NS, she was the daughter of the late James and Ellen Yates. Mom was a homemaker, proud mother to her three girls, and a devoted wife to her husband Vince, with whom she is now happily reunited. Over the years Mom’s favorite hobbies were playing darts and cards with family and friends, on the road, and shopping. However, her favorite pastime and her greatest joy in life was her time spent with her family and fur babies. In her final moments with us, Mom made sure to leave us with the reassurance of how proud she was of each of us, and of the beautiful 75 years she was given, and that she was ready to “go home” to Dad who was already there waiting with open arms for her. Left to grieve are her three girls, Marie (John, Terry) David, Angela (Brian) MacDonald, and Donna (Jimmy) Southwell. Her six grandchildren, Jonathan (Victoria), Lyndsey (Freddie), Stephanie, Mandy, Jenna (Justin), and Tyler (Taylor). Great grandchildren, Vincent, John, Sophia, Owen, Kayla, Jason, Jacob, Hannah, Nikita, Cameron, Emily, Isla, and Blake. Her long-time bestie and sister by choice, Muriel Anderson, who no matter the distance was always there for her, and when together they always picked up right where they left off. Also left to grieve Mom’s passing are many other special family and friends. Besides our dad (Vince) and her parents, Mom was predeceased by siblings Jim and Josephine (Eggo) and many fur babies over the years. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of TJ Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS. 902-849-4199. As per Mom’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. Interment will be at a later date. We would like to give a sincere thank you to the 3 West doctors, nurses, and staff at the Glace Bay General Hospital. Thanks especially to nurses Chelsea and Robyn, and Hospice volunteer, Sister Sylvia. Your compassion and kindness to both us and our mom in her final hours will never be forgotten. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the SPCA of Cape Breton or The Hospice Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton County.
