Obituary of Edward "Eddie" Donald Buchanan

Eddie Buchanan Glace Bay, NS It is with a broken heart we announce the sudden passing of a loving husband and father Eddie Buchanan. Eddie was born in Glace Bay and was the son of the late Sharon Boutilier. Eddie was an Electrician/ Welder by trade. He worked in Fort MacMurry most of his life and the last 5 years at Protocase. He cherished taking his kids to hockey and dance and he loved filming every moment of our kids lives. Eddie was an award-winning director and won many awards including the Rex Tasker Award and Best Director in 2006; his credits included Director, Writer, Narrator, Director of Photography and Eddie was a proud member of the Directors and Writers Guild of Canada. Eddie will be missed by his wife Mary Buchanan, his children Dylan, (Savanna), Brady, Brooke, and Ryker and a proud Poppa of Rowen and his two dogs Hoss and Bandit: a sister Samantha and brother Johnathan Boutilier; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. He will be dearly missed by mother and father-in-law Kathy and Gary Somerton; sisters-in-law - Garlene (Melissa Billard) Somerton, Ollie (David) Caines, and Amanda (Todd) McDonald. Along with his mom, Eddie was predeceased by his grandparents Alma and Eddie Buchanan. As per Eddie’s wishes there will be no service. There will be a private family service at a later date.
