Obituary of Wayne Mansell Canning

Today we say goodbye to a faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Wayne Mansell Canning, who passed away July 20, 2023, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. It has been a hard rough road for Manse these past few years. We will all miss his laughter and his ability to be a good friend to so many. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Sharron Lee Dechman; daughter, Nadine Derek; brothers, Harry (Edna), Gary (Shirley), sister, Grace (Paul); grandchildren, Tarrin Canning , Tory Cherneski (Logan), Brett Cherneski, Alyshia Canning, Gage Canning (Juliette), and Rayven Canning (Brian). Mansell was predeceased by his son, Derek Canning, and brother Billy Canning. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. A Celebration of Life will take place on September 19th, 2pm to 4pm at the funeral home. We have all experienced Mansel’s humor. Please come prepared to share your fun experiences with Manse. This is a casual affair. Please feel free to wear your golf shirts or hockey jerseys.
