Obituary of Melanie Marie MacIntyre
With broken hearts we, the family, regret to announce the passing of Melanie MacIntyre, age 62, of Glace Bay, on August 14, 2023 at Maple Hill Manor, with loving family by her side.
Born in Reserve Mines, Melanie was daughter to the late Michael and Sally Gardiner. Growing up, Melanie enjoyed baking, singing, and spending time with her siblings and friends. She was known and loved for her kind heart, great sense of humor, love of animals, and zest for life.
In 1990, Melanie graduated from the Cape Breton Business College with a Secretarial certificate. She obtained employment at Don Kerr Insurance for a brief time, as her battle with illness began. Strong and determined, Melanie fought sickness throughout the years, spending her time as a stay-at-home Mom who created countless happy events and cherished memories for her daughter Michelle, whom she loved dearly. In her spare time, Melanie enjoyed trips and beach days with her mother, sisters, and nieces, long walks with good friend Sherri McIntyre, as well as movie nights, Tim’s runs, and lunch dates with her daughter.
At age 42, Melanie bravely returned to school, achieving a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Community Studies from Cape Breton University. She then worked as a youth court support worker with Legal Aid. A title she held with pride.
