We the family of Louis “Louie” Raymond Dixon, 84, of Glace Bay, announce his passing on Saturday, August 12, 2023, with his family at his side, in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Born in South Harbour, NS, he was the son of the late John and Mary Alice (Fitzgerald) Dixon.
At the age of 14, Louie began culling oysters for D. Goldman’s, later moving to Glace Bay, and worked for several years with them before becoming co-owner and manager of Bay Seafoods Ltd, where he made many friends, and made the best Marinated Herring. Louie was a very hard worker and was always there to lend a helping hand to those in need. Louie also enjoyed taking long walks, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Louie is survived by his son Ricky (Pam) Dixon; daughters Louanne (Danny) and Chris (Maureen); a brother Lawrence; sisters-in-laws: Alice (Paddy), Rita (Edward), Selma (Kevin), Joyce (Nelson), Leona (Russell), and Thelma; brothers-in-law: Billy, and Murdock (Donna); four grandchildren: Brittany, Ryan, Emma, and Kyle; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Along with his parents, Louie was predeceased by his wife Annette (MacIntosh), brothers Charlie, Stewart, James Robert; sister’s Mary Ellen, Martina (Mappy), and a sister in infancy; sisters and brothers -in-law Bertha, Aggie, Marie (Wendall) and Susie (Murdock).
Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society in memory of Louie.
Our family would like to thank the staff of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for the care dad received during his stay with them.
