Obituary of Raymond Joseph Leonard Gaudet

GAUDET, Raymond Joseph Leonard, Age 58, Halifax, NS, passed away July 16, 2023 at his residence. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia on March 29, 1965, he was son of George and Beatrice Gaudet. As a family of 7, 2 girls and 5 boys, Raymond was the youngest. When we lived in public housing, I remember he would go tobogganing on Barnhill or Ashburn Golf Course with Hazel and Dora. Seeing we had a family of 5 boys, George, Jim, Paul, David, and Raymond, it would be easy to play baseball around Westmount Ballfield or behind St. Andrews School. One of the greatest memories was, dragging that old hockey net over behind St. Andrews School and play ground hockey. Raymond goalie, and playing 2 on 2, George and David, and Paul and Jim, and stay until about midnight then carry that heavy net all the way home, then do it all over again the next day. Every Sunday was a big family meal, we spent together playing 45’s. on Tuesday nights we played ball hockey at St. Theresa Hall for 2 hours, everybody was there, Raymond, all the boys, and Cousin Bruce and Raymond’s good friend Kevin. It was 2 hours of a heck of a sweat and lots of water. Some of Raymond’s other interest was in the art of cooking. He spent a lot of time as short order cook and as a prep cook. He liked computers, engaged in dungeons and dragons, was roll playing and it was pretty intense. Playing video games and he also worked a short time for the commissionaires. Raymond is survived by his brothers, George (Patrica) of Halifax, James of Dartmouth, Paul (Donna) of Halifax, David (Beverly) of Bedford; sister Dora (Doug) of Halifax. He is predeceased by sister, Hazel. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Nova Scotia Mental Health Association. Special thank you to Frank Gosse for always being there. As well as caseworker, Alex Benor of Community Services for all your support, and also the Resident manger, Jecca Lewis. Cremation has taken place and a private service will be at a later date.
