Obituary of Terrence Joseph Mitchell

Terrence “Terry” Joseph Mitchell Glace Bay It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the passing of Terry Mitchell, age 65, on Wednesday, February 21,2018 at the Glace Bay Hospital, Glace Bay surrounded by his loving family. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Frederick and Florence (Totten) Mitchell. Terry was employed as a truck driver with K & L Trucking until his retirement. He was a backyard mechanic willing to tinker on anything that would get him dirty and full of grease. A jack of trades who would put his hand to any job big or small. Terry was a huge cat lover, feeding all the neighborhood cats who were in the cat club. He is survived by his best friend and mother of his children, Elaine (Boutilier) Mitchell (Steve), his wonderful children, Tanya (Rod) Hart, Jason Mitchell, Nicole Mitchell (Chris) and Terri Mitchell (Chris), all of Glace Bay; nine grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Michaila (Robbie), Bailey, Preston, Caleb, Keanna, MaKenzie, Noah, Jordan and Lily; his precious great grandson Ty; brothers, George Mitchell, Glace Bay, Robert “Bobby” (Allison),Etobicoke, ON several nieces and nephews; brothers and sisters in-law; as well as his good friends, Laurence(Emma)Burns, Frankie Melnick, Mickey Ludlow and Dwayne Boutilier. Besides his two loving parents Florence and Frederick, Terry was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Teresa Mitchell. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 2: 00 p.m. Monday, February 26, 2018 with Deacon Lorne MacNeil officiating at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS 902-849-4199. In lieu of flowers, donations in Terry’s memory may be made to the Cancer Society, the SPCA or the Animal Shelter. The family would like to thank Dr. MacLean, Dr. Ley, nurses and staff at the Glace Bay Hospital and the Cancer Center for all their care and compassion given to our dad during his illness.
