Obituary of Blaise Evely

Blaise Evely Glace Bay It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our brother, uncle and friend, Blaise Lewellyn Evely on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital with his family by his side. Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late Mary (Morgan) and George Evely. Blaise was employed as a taxi driver with Marg’s Taxi for over 30 years where he made many friends; especially Mickey MacGillvary and Diane Marr, who he loved dearly. Blaise enjoyed going for many drives around the country with his brother Brian and nephew John ‘Mingy’ Penney. Blaise will be missed by his best friend, Alex Morrison and his baby girl Maggie. Blaise is survived by his brother, Brian (Glenda) Evely; sisters, Joyce Evely (with who he resided with) and Brenda (Benny) MacKenzie, as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Kenny and Thomas ‘Batman’ Evely, brother in infancy, sister Cordella Evely; sister-in-law, Jackie Evely; nephew, George Kenneth ‘Booper’ McNeil and great nephew, Jonathan McNeil. Cremation has taken place. There will be a private graveside service at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donation may be sent to Palliative Care Unit, CBRH or the SPCA. The family would like to thank Dr. MacDonald, Dr. Goa, Dr. MacCarvell, the nurses and staff in CCU and Palliative Care, who are all angels, you all have made Blaise’s last moments peaceful.
