Idella Marion (Cooke) MacLeod

Reserve Mines, NS

It is with great sadness we share the passing of our mother, Idella Marion (Cooke) MacLeod of Reserve Mines, NS on July 16, 2023. Della was the daughter of the late Edith and Austin Cooke.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph MacLeod. Mom is survived by four of her children, Mary (Ken Kinzie), Joanne (Joe Whitewood), John, and Andrea (Colin Power); Mom is also survived by grandchildren: Trevor (Tracey), Angela (Keagan), Renee (Kirk), Ian, RJ (Hannah), Cheyenne, Abby, Jessie, Katie, Noah; great-grandchildren: Mason (Tatyana), Emily, Lucas, and Sophia; siblings: Joan Costello, Barbara Hill, Kemerly and Lenny Boutilier.

Along with her husband, Della was predeceased by a son Fabian, and siblings Myrna, Cyril, and Vido.

Mom was a very strong lady, and she instilled that strength in her children. She was an active volunteer in the community, a Pathfinder Leader, member of TOPS, former member of Ladies Auxiliary of the legion and Reserve Pensioners. Mom and dad always supported local events. Their love of dancing kept them young and full of life. We will always love and miss you and hold our memories dear.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2023, from 4-6 p.m., in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS. 902-849-4199. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, in St. Joseph’s Parish, Reserve Mines, at 1 p.m., with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding.
