Obituary of Lilly Agate Summerell
GONE HOME! Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23.
Mom went to her eternal home on July 5, 2023. Born in Norway, she was the daughter of Rasmus and Cecilie Ellefsen and immigrated to Canada in 1936, settling in Glace Bay. The family later moved to Reserve Mines.
Survived by sons, William (Annice), Reserve Mines, Eric (Sylvia), Ottawa; daughters, Karen Matheson, Sackville, Judy Musycsyn (Michael), Caribou Marsh; brothers Bobby , Glace Bay and Lloyd (Irene), Dartmouth; nine grandchildren, Aaron, Ian, Steven, Jeffrey, Erica, Jessica, Jay, Jordan and Breagh; and seven great-grandchildren, Anthony, Jakeb, Georgia, Sydney, Alex, Joslyn and Kenny. Besides her parents, Mom was predeceased by her husband, William, and her sister, Sylvia Morrison. Mom was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She welcomed and led the Ladies' bible study group in her home weekly, well into her nineties. She previously visited and led bible studies for the residents of the Cove Guest Home.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, NS, 902-539-7175. Visitation will be held on July 15th at 1pm, funeral service in the Chapel at 2pm with reception to follow. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens immediately following. For those unable to attend, the funeral service will be livestreamed via the T.J. Tracey Funeral Home facebook page.
In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Compassion Canada or to the Gideons. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Seaview Manor and to the staff of the Cove Guest Home for all your care and compassion given to our mother.
