Obituary of Betty Corless (McCarthy)

Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Betty Corless McCarthy, June 2,1953 – June 21,2023, of Halifax, passed away peacefully at the IWK Women’s Health Centre, Halifax. Betty claimed that her best life began at 30, when she met her future employer, Ann Marie Livingstone, and co-worker, Amy Chisholm at Bayer’s Rd. Head Shoppe. For the next 35 years, staff and clients of Styles Alive became her family, and what a great family, in good times and bad. Betty was a pillar of the salon, where her loyalty and kindness endeared her to the entire shop family and clientele. She was predeceased by her parents, Harold and Stella McCarthy, her twin sister, Beth McCarthy, and the love of her life, her little dog, Simba. She is survived by her brother, Harold McCarthy (Donna), her niece, Laura McCarthy-Snow (Adrian), her nephew, Jamie McCarthy (Jodi), Grandnephew, Jack Harold Snow and Grandniece, Olivia Sharon Snow. It was Betty’s wish to thank her angels for watching over her: Helen Langille, Mikki Carr, Joan Perry and Colleen Milsom. Special thanks to the caring and compassionate staff of 7A, IWK Women’s Health Centre for making Betty so comfortable during her final two months. Betty was also very grateful to Dr. Chris Graham and Danielle, and to Carla and Brenda for always having time for her. There will be no service or visitation. We will have fond thoughts of her over a great meal and a drink. Donations may be made to the S.P.C.A., Hope Cottage or the NS Lung Association.
