Robert (Bob) John Evans December 1943 to May 2023 It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father, grand-father and brother, Bob Evans, on 22 May 2023, at home. Born in Sydney, Bob was the son of the late Burkley and Eva (Vatcher) Evans. Bob lived and worked in Toronto for many years where he was a truck driver for Cintas ON Teamsters local 847. Bob was a quiet, private, and gentle soul. He always greeted you with a smile and will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a great worker and enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially, tinkering in the garage and upkeeping the house and property, in which he took great pride. Bob was known for his kind nature and was always willing to lend a helping hand no matter the task and often helped with maintaining the Good Shepherd Cemetery. He also enjoyed cooking; his culinary skills would put most people to shame. Bob was a huge Blue Jays fan and he and Karen enjoyed watching the games together. Bob is survived by his loving wife of 16 years, Karen (Wrathall) Evans and 4 sons: Winston Evans; George (Serenity) Evans; Owen LeBlanc, and Robbie Evans. Brothers Tom (Rose) Evans and Bruce Evans. Sisters Sandra McCormack, Donna Cameron, and Joanne Evans. Bob is also survived by 10 grandchildren. Besides his parents, Bob was pre-deceased by sister Betty Ross, an infant son Randolph and brothers in law Bernard McCormack and John Cameron. As per Bob’s wishes there will not be a visitation nor a funeral service. Cremation has taken place under the care and compassion of TJ Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, Glace Bay, and interment will follow at a later date at the Good Shepherd Cemetery. If you so choose, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton, or the Lung Association. The family would like to express a special thank you to the Palliative Care team especially Dr McCarville and Brett Gillis; and the VON nurses (Kim, Kathleen, Jessica) who showed tremendous care and compassion for Bob during his final days. Also, to TJ Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, for all that you do. Words of comfort may be expressed to the family by visiting www.tjracey.com.
