Mary "Kathy" Kathleen MacDonald Obituary
Mary “Kathy” MacDonald
Glace Bay, NS
It is with profound sadness that, we the family of Mary “Kathy” MacDonald, announce her sudden passing on May 13, 2023, at the age of 66. She was a beautiful mother, wife, sister, friend; but the title she cherished most was “Nanny.”
Kathy was born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Mary and George MacDonald.
Before retirement, Kathy was employed with the Cape Breton Regional School Board as cleaner and loved her time working at Donkin school. She loved her children and made life special for them. Kathy also loved spending time with her girlfriends and loved to dance, sing, have a laugh and a good time. She was known for her humor, kind demeanor and selflessness. She was a natural caretaker and always put others first before herself.
Besides her parents Kathy was most recently predeceased by her husband, Edward Bond. Throughout their years together they created a beautiful, blended family. Also predeceasing Kathy was her sister, Carol; sister-in-law, Cheryl; brothers in law, Kevin, Joe, and Bruce and chosen sister, Tina.
Surviving Kathy are her children; Joel (Adele), Keshia (Mike), Edward Jr. (Sam), Kim and Lorraine. Kathy is also survived by four grandchildren; her boys, Nanny’s buddy, Chase, Nanny’s special twins, Nathan and Brayden, and Nanny’s baby boy, Ollie.
Also surviving are her brothers; Alex (Barb), Lawson (Monica), Gary (Jeri), George (Dena) and sister, Sharon; sisters in law, April (Robert), Bev (Bill), Lesley (Shelly), Lorraine (Wally); brothers in law, Dwight (Marilyn) and John. As well as numerous nieces and nephews and cousins who will miss her dearly.
A visitation will be held on May 23, 2023, from 11-12 pm, followed by a Celebration of Life with Lily MacDonald presiding, in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS. 902.849.4199.
