Rosemarie 'Ginger' (McIntosh) Gillis
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, sister, grandmother and friend, on August 11, 2022, in her 87th year. Born in Glace Bay, Nova Scotia, she was the daughter of the late John and Genevieve McIntosh.
Predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Ronald Joseph (Joe) Gillis and her sisters Charlotte Bessette and Joan Morgan.
Survived by her daughter, Carol Watson (Waterloo) and son-in-law Lee Watson, and son Brian (Chicago), daughter-in-law Katharine Thompson; brothers John (Kathleen) McIntosh and Reg (Bernice) McIntosh, Glace Bay. Loving grandmother to Claire Genevieve, and Owen Arthur as well as several nieces and nephews.
Ginger was a supercharged, witty, slightly unfiltered force for good in this world. She was a passionate friend, nurse, and parishioner. She was a committed parent, wife, sister, and grandmother, and an enthusiastic dancer, hiker, swimmer, and moviegoer. There was no one better in a crisis, and no one who dove in more willingly when something needed to be done.
After a long successful nursing career in both Sarnia and Kitchener, Ginger took all that energy and applied it into being the doting, proud, loving grandmother to Claire and Owen, who brought tremendous happiness into her life. Ginger's last 6 years were spent in the incredibly loving, compassionate, and professional care of Trinity Village Care Centre in Kitchener, Ontario. Special thanks to two incredible supporters and protectors of Ginger; her friend Shirley Kavanaugh, and her brother John, both of whom were able to ensure her last few years were filled with dignity and joy.
