Claudia Lee Cowell Keizer Pinsent. Born September 29, 1947. Deceased April 12, 2023.
Claudia was born in Halifax and raised in Sydney, Nova Scotia. She was educated at Xavier College and Dalhousie University. After graduating from Dalhousie, she worked as a French teacher at St. Andrew’s School and John W. MacLeod School in Halifax.
Claudia returned to university in the early 1980s to pursue her degree in Journalism from the University of King’s College. She worked as a reporter and editor at Halifax Herald until 1999. Her professional highlights included producing Senior School Profile - a student newspaper written by Nova Scotia high school students, covering the 1984 Papal Visit to Halifax, editing the book page, religion page and the Nova Scotian.
Always a history buff, Claudia had a special interest and knowledge in Halifax and Nova Scotian history and later on, English history. She also had a keen interest in archaeology, genealogy, maps, photography, writing and reading.
Claudia was pre-deceased by her father, Aubrey Keizer; and mother, Mina (Curran) Keizer; as well as her younger sister, Janice Mader. Claudia leaves behind her loving sister, Karen (Keizer) Melvin. Claudia also leaves behind her daughter, Ashley Pinsent-Tobin; son-in-law, Derrick; and grandson, Keifer.
