Obituary of Aubrey William Rhyno

Rhyno, Aubrey William, Age 88, died unexpectedly at the Halifax Infirmary April 5th, 2023 after a brief illness. Born in 1934 in Halifax, raised in Hubbards, Nova Scotia. The son of the late William and Gladys Rhyno. Aubrey went to work at a young age, working several jobs, until he found his lifelong career at 17. Going to school evenings and weekends and working days for Mitchell & McRae Ltd. to become a plumber. The courses continued and some years later he purchased and operated the company until 2020, when he retired, “the Aubrey way”. Aubrey was always kind and up for helping those in need. He enjoyed cards, the outdoors, visiting friends, family and camping in his van with Lucy. In later life he also enjoyed gardening, tinkering in the garage and basement and driving his buggy around the neighbourhood visiting friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Lucy of 68+ years; sons, Burton (Jocelyn), David (Colleen); daughters, Ann Borden (Kevin), Gail Gibb; 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and sister Marie McInnis (Bob). He was predeceased by sister, Joyce Levy (John) and son in-law, Doug Gibb. A special thank you to Dr. Kinley (GP), the Northwood Homecare workers that took care of Aubrey at his home and the Nurses, doctors and care staff of Unit 8.4 Halifax Infirmary. At his request there will be no funeral. A celebration of life will be held at The Fairview Legion on April 22nd, from 2-4 pm. Family burial will take place later. Condolences can be shared on line at “TJ Tracey’s Cremation and Burial Specialists”. Donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
