My husband and I were fortunate to meet Susan 24 years ago when we booked our very first international trip. We loved Susan right away and she booked all our trips until Covid struck. I never understood when people said they found booking a trip an ordeal as working with Susan was always a joy with much laughter! Susan made anything possible and in all those years there was never a flaw. We discovered I love books as much as Susan and her good friend and coworker Gail. This added another dimension to our friendship. I did one walk at Shubie with Susan, Ches and Gail. We have a golden too….much younger than Ches! Anyway,
these young ladies were more advanced than myself so one walk was enough. And yes there was much calling “Hello” back and worth and “nice to see you”, etc….a lovely group of women and dogs enjoying the morning. Susan and I would meet for coffee every once in a while to catch up and pass on books. It is heartbreaking Susan is gone……much too soon! Susan had much more to do and enjoy…..Susan was very, very special and unique! Will always miss Susan❤️

I would like to send my deepest condolences to Susan’s family & friends during this difficult time. I was very fortunate to have met Susan & Ches last year down at Shubie Park for the first time. I will always remember her telling me to “slow down” especially on the hottest of days, Susan always had a smile on her face and I was always greeted everyday with a good morning . I was so saddened to hear of her passing and I truly miss seeing Susan & Ches on my daily walks as she was the first person of my Shubie friends I would see, whether it was rain or shine I could always count on seeing Susan & Ches down at the park….. It always gave me great comfort knowing she was there especially on those rainy days when there was hardly anyone at the park, as a special group of friends we always look out for each other down there. I will truly miss my Shubie friend and I will always think of Susan on my daily walks.

I first met Susan and Ches during my daily morning walks at Shubie Park. We both walked with a golden which prompted conversation right away. Many world problems were discussed and hopefully solved on those chats. I feel very fortunate to have met Sue. I’m still enjoying the park, but there is a huge void that can’t be filled. Always looked forward to her morning banter with our select crew.
My thoughts and prayers go out to her husband Bob, brother David and family and her special friend Cindy.

We will miss seeing and joking with her on a daily basis. We are one of her "Shubie Park" friends. We will continue to feed Ches treats when Cindy is out walking her in the park but we will always be missing Susan.

It’s hard to believe cousin Susan is gone. I have happy memories from when I was a kid and Susan, David, Nickie and Bill would come to St. Stephen to visit Grannie and Papa. I always admired Susan’s signature laugh and adventurous spirit. If you were having a conversation with Susan you knew she’d be asking good questions and that you’d have a good laugh together. My sincere condolences to Bob, David, Debbie, Sarah, Conner, Justin and all who knew and loved her.

I am so, so, sorry about your dear Susan. I met Susan at Shubie Park during the pandemic. Susan was a sweetheart, friendly, funny, and so easy to like. I looked forward to our meetings and chats. She will be so missed, not only by me, but everybody she touched at Shubie. I will so miss the laughs and teasing we shared. We at Shubie are heartbroken. My thoughts are with all of you at this sad time. Sheila Flinn

I had the pleasure of meeting Susan during my morning dog walks at Shubie. Over the past three years, I got to know Susan and her beloved dog Ches, and was lucky enough to become Sue’s friend. Sue and I particularly connected over our shared love of dogs and food, and our commitment to walking our pups rain or shine. I was struck by Susan’s passion for cooking meals for her and her husband Bob. She was always looking for new things to try, we would often share notes on new recipes and restaurant recommendations. She spoke often of Bob, her brother David, her niece and nephews, and her cousin Kim. Her care and love for her family was always apparent in the stories and anecdotes she would relay.
I would often join Sue walking with Ann and her chosen sister Cindy—we just found out that people refer to us as ‘the ladies who walk their dogs’. On our daily journeys, we would meet and chat with other park friends who frequent Shubie in the mornings—Heather, Judy, Sheila, Joan, Betty, Steve, Cheryl, Joe, Walter, Newman, and Andy. We all enjoyed Sue’s wickedly funny sense of humor, her beautiful laugh echoed through the park. We called her the ‘owl whisperer’, last fall, she spotted the Shubie barred owl starting out at us hidden amongst the trees more times than I could count; so many people got the opportunity to see that owl because of Sue’s uncanny ability to spot him. To say our Shubie mornings are not the same without Sue is an understatement—we will carry on our daily walks and chats with our park friends in her memory.
My deepest condolences to Bob, Cindy, David, Debbie, Sarah, Justin, and Conner.

Susie (as she will always be to be) and I were as close as cousins are when younger, sharing time at the cottage and holiday dinners. I left Nova Scotia at 9 years old, and ended up living on the west coast. Susie stopped in on her way through to Australia many years later, and it was then (over a beer) that we reconnected and decided we would travel Europe together. In1990, we made that dream happen, and spent 5 1/2 weeks driving around Europe. Following that trip we vowed to get together every couple of years, which we mostly did, including me coming to Nova Scotia and being a part of hers and Bob's wedding. Our travels included Chicago, New York, Boston, Toronto, Ottawa, Quebec and Montreal, with our last trip in 2016 to London, where Susie also got to spend some time with her niece Sarah. On our initial trip to Europe, we wrote in our individual journals every night, which we would then take with us on our future trips and reminisce. Those are memories that I will hold on to. We had talked about meeting up again, but then came the pandemic, and we didn't make that next trip. But we did start chatting on whats app every single day, and I did get to visit with her this past fall. Bye bye Susie, until we meet again. Forever in my heart❤

A bright light has dimmed; however, Susan’s smile, laughter, friendship, and love for all will always be remembered and never forgotten.
We have known Susan for over 50 years; spanning her time in New Glasgow through Church & Girl Guides, meeting on the Montreal Metro going to a hockey game after she moved to NL, then reconnecting as our travel agent in Dartmouth. Susan planned our visits to Italy, France, Germany, Netherlands, England, Scotland, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, China, Hong Kong and lastly St. Petersburg, Russia. Attention to detail was Susan’s strength. No booking was complete until you heard her signature laugh.
Susan skilfully managed travel for many individuals across the country as the travel agent for the Commission on Dental and Accreditation of Canada. She had the ability to easily connect with everyone, they knew the sound of her voice, and Susan knew their voices. Many of these individuals Susan got to know on a first name basis.
Susan was a professional and although her retirement was welcomed by all for Susan, her abilities were missed by everyone.
Bob (Ches), David & Debbie (family), Susan’s extended family, relatives, and close friends, please accept our deepest sympathy. Susan was a remarkable person, a close friend and will be truly missed.

We were very pleased when Susan officially joined our family. Her kindness and easy-going nature were apparent. While her visits West (and ours East) were few, she was a valued family member. We will long remember her.
Many grieve her passing - in addition to Bob & Ches, David & family, close friends, and fellow dog owners. May we all be sustained by sweet memories until we see her again.

I did not know Susan well, but remember her as a gentle soul who brought calm to those around her. Her passing will be a huge loss to all of us.

I still can’t believe this little fire cracker is gone. She made my life better every day for over 25 years. I could not imagine my travel career without her. She was an excellent travel agent and I still get calls for her, often. We used to laugh so hard on a daily basis. People would comment they could here us all through the mall. We loved to reminisce about all the changes in the travel industry over the years. We go back to the days of hand written airline tickets and with a good eraser we could change your flight!
I could go on forever. I’m going to miss Susan so much. Condolences to you all. ❤️
