Shirley Holloway, 91
Glace Bay, NS
We the family of Shirley Holloway are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear Mother on March 28, 2023, in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Glace Bay, NS, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Cora (Pass) MacLean. Mom was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Mom loved to bake and was exceptional at it; in her younger years she would like to play darts and enjoyed a good game of Ramoli. Shirley also enjoyed her soap operas and watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy, and even at 91 would get quite a few answers right. Mom was known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
Shirley spent most of her life as a military wife having worked on the base and loving every minute of it. Married for 58 years before Dads passing, mom and dad spent a couple of years in Germany then returned to Oromocto and Greenwood, and eventually retiring in their hometown of Glace Bay.
Surviving are her seven children: Clarence Holloway, Greg Holloway (Liz), Deborah Woods (John), Donna Beshara (Joe), Patricia Holloway, Jimmy Holloway (Cheryl), and Diane Holloway.
Also surviving mom is her brother-in-law Stan Holloway (Eva) as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and special to her were Rebecca and Darrell Legnaro.
Mom is also survived by eight grandchildren: Jason and Jennifer Macintyre; Linda and Ryan Holloway; Cory and Brian Beshara; Brin and Jamie Boutilier; thirteen great-grandchildren: Olivia, Henry, Michael, Emma, Riley, Aidan, Liam, Noah, Isaiah, Jonah, Molly, Hudson, and Easton; one great, great-grandson Lachlan.
Along with her parents, Shirley was predeceased by her husband Allan Holloway; 3 sisters: Mary Garcia, Helen Jack, and Myrtle Legnaro; as well as several brother’s and sister’s-in-law.
Visitation for the late Shirley Holloway will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, from 1-2 p.m. and a Celebration of Life will follow, with Alison Etter presiding, in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialist, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS. 902.849.4199.
We the family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff in the Cape Breton Renal Dialysis Unit, both at the CBRH and Glace Bay General Hospital, also to the staff at Handi Trans- you all went above and beyond for Mom, she thought the world of you all. Thank you to the staff of 4D and Palliative Care for all your kindness and special care of our mother.
We love you Mom lots and lots!!
