It is with heavy hearts that we the family announce the peaceful passing of our loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and aunt, Julia Fitzpatrick at home on Wednesday, March 15, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (MacInnis) AuCoin.
Julia was employed at the Glace Bay Hotel and Charlie Myers Grocery Store. She was a long–time member of St. Anthony’s Parish, with a very strong faith. Julia enjoyed Miners Vacations, camping, bingo, dancing and sitting on the step with family and friends. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Julia is survived by her loving children, Ivan Fitzpatrick (Shirley MacDonald),and Wanda (Darrell) Rowe both of Glace Bay; grandchildren, Corey Rowe, Ontario, Matt Rowe, Dartmouth, Marcie Rowe (Bryden Dunphy), Glace Bay; her precious great grandchildren, Mason, Kyra, Kohen and baby to be Dunphy.
She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Josephine AuCoin and Annie Fitzpatrick as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Ivan Fitzpatrick; infant daughter, mother and father-in-law, Ivan and Dorothy (Knight) Fitzpatrick; sisters, Katie (Randy) Gillis, Margie (Ducky) Yates, Elizabeth (Eddy) Murphy, Theresa (Alex) MacKenzie , Jessie (Mike)Denittis, Clementine (Art) Parsons; brothers, Bernie (Anne) Hart, Benny (Doreen) AuCoin, Angus AuCoin, twin brother, Simon (June) AuCoin, Eugene AuCoin, and John AuCoin; in-laws, Thirza (Roddie) MacDougall and John Fitzpatrick.
Visitation will be held Monday, March 20, 2023 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, 2023 with Fr. Norman MacPhee presiding at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199).
Burial to take place at a later date in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to thank Dr. Trevor Guy, Palliative Care, VON, Golden Girls, New Waterford Home Care- especially Anne Milley. A special thank you to Shirley, Valerie, Sharon and Kent for all your care and compassion.
