Obituary of Brent MacKenzie

Please share a memory of Brent to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Brent Douglas MacKenzie, Glace Bay It is with immense sadness and heavy hearts that we, the family of Brent Douglas Mackenzie, announce his sudden passing at the age of 44, on Friday, March 3rd, 2023, at home. Born on April 27, 1978, Brent was the son of Terry and the late Alice MacKenzie. Brent’s proudest achievements in life were his three children, Abby, Haileigh, and Parker. He looked forward to his camping trips with the kids. He was a kid at heart and instead of watching the water balloon fights, he was initiating them. When Brent had his ATV, he would often be seen with one of the kids heading out on an adventure. Brent grew up playing hockey with a rink in his backyard, so he made sure Parker had the same experience. Brent enjoyed going to watch Parker’s hockey games and spending quality time with his girls. Brent loved the outdoors whether it was fishing, camping, quadding, going for runs with his dog Rocco or having family campfires. Many great memories were also made while kayaking with his children. From an early age, Brent was well known as being very skilled in many areas. There wasn’t a task he wouldn’t take on, whether it was taking things apart to fix or building a new project. He worked for many years as a Power Engineer at Nova Scotia Power. Most recently, Brent worked construction with his right-hand man, uncle Chris, who he had a special connection with. Brent took pride in his work and was always willing to take on a new challenge. Brent was a perfectionist, everything he worked on had to be done with such precision. Brent will be deeply missed by his loving father, Terry (Sharon) and his sisters Sherrie (Scott Morrison) and April (Glen Michael Parsons). We will always remember Brent’s famous line, “Don’t worry, I got this”. Brent leaves behind his pride and joy, his three beautiful children Abby, Haileigh, and Parker, who were the light of his life. Also left to mourn are his four nieces, his “Boo” Morgan (Fraser), Alyssa, Jaime Paige and Mallorie. Brent will be missed by many people; he was well loved, respected and he touched many lives during his short life. Brent is survived by his aunts and uncles: Joan, Winnie, Joyce and Cliff, Sheila and Raymond, Gloria, Tishie, Shirley, Chris and Ruth. Brent had many friends over the years, he will be especially missed by his closest friend Chad Crocker. He is also survived by Sharon’s children Maria (David) and Alan, as well as the mother of his children, Josita Sheppard. Brent was predeceased by his mother Alice whom he missed every day; he was her baby boy. He was also predeceased by several uncles, an aunt, and both of his maternal and paternal grandparents. Cremation has taken place under the direction of T.J. Tracey Funeral Home, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, N.S. 902.849.4199. In keeping with Brent’s wishes, a private family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Words of comfort may be expressed to the family by visiting www.tjtracey.com. Goodbyes hurt the most when the story was not finished... God saw the road was getting rough, The hill was hard to climb, He gently closed your weary eyes, And whispered “Peace by thine”

Celebration of Life.
