Dear Jean, we are saddened to hear of Tom's passing, and send our deepest condolences to you and your family. Tom was a lovely man, a gentle soul, who always greeted people with a smile. Although we haven't seen you both since we left Nova Scotia, we carry the memories of Friday nights at the Riverside, and many, many gatherings of friends in and around Lower Sackville over the years. So much laughter and good conversation, and yes, Tom's memory will live in our hearts too.

Jean, we were both so sorry to hear of Tom's passing and send our condolences to you and your family. I know we haven't known each other very long but we are so glad we got the opportunity to spend time with you both in Puerto Vallarta for a couple of years and once in Nova Scotia. We had some good conversations and quite a few laughs. The picture of Tom and Stewart on the beach is how we'll remember him - being in the moment and loving life!.

Jean, Sons , Family and Friends, John and I were saddened, to hear of Tom’s Passing, Although Tom and I worked in different positions for DND, We always had time for a visit and shared some laughs, He had an Infectious Smile every time, His stories of home with you, special times with his sons, and reflections of travel and wonderment where your next travel would take you, He was a hard worker and very kind, Bev and I were so happy that when we were out to supper and we saw you , Many years ago that you came right over and we all enjoyed the meal, Tom always had a kind word, we hope that all your memories you have of travel, cruises visits family, with Tom will always be in your heart, May Tom Rest in Peace, John and Bev, Langille, Halifax,

Memories are hard for me to express in just a few words, but I will try. I remember Tom as a young man and the night he first met Jean and how happy she was to be dating him. I was there to witness Tom and Jean’s wedding (I was Jean’s maid-of-honour), and how they were so young, but already so much wiser and mature than I was. I remember how they worked together to reach goals and how they worked, literally, to build their first house. As the years went by and they had their children, I remember how they achieved so much. Tom was devoted to Jean and his sons. He was proud of them and his work. Later in life, I remember marveling at how they loved to travel and how adventurous they were.
I remember meeting them in Puerto Vallarta and enjoying fun times together, and of course, the many fun evenings we shared in Smiths Cove or Bedford, eating, talking and occasionally trying a game of Scrabble.
I remember Tom’s love of the ocean, Sandy Cove, and how he loved to relay stories of his younger days with his father, mother, sister and his buddies from Sandy Cove. It was amazing how connected he remained to his roots. And lastly, I remember his strength. Tom showed exceptional strength throughout his life which he again demonstrated by his acceptance of his diagnosis but his willingness to see friends, travel and carry on even while undergoing chemotherapy. He remained polite, and kind, and gentle. That was Tom at his core. He was one of a kind.

Jean, Condolences to you, Paul, Ian, and the rest of your family. I always looked forward to seeing you and Tom at our family gatherings. Tom had a way of lighting up and making people feel like he was especially glad to see them in particular, and he always has especially good or funny insights to share; I remember being in stitches at a few parties. If Tom was quiet, the perpetual twinkle in his eye sparkled just a little bit more, and you knew something good was coming again very soon. He will be missed. Xo, Melanie
