WINSTON TIMMONS
Dominion/Glace Bay, NS
It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Edward Winston Churchill Timmons, 81, on February 22, 2023, with his loved ones by his side. Winston was born in Glace Bay to the late Carson and Kay (Cormier) Timmons.
As a young man, he began working at the age of sixteen, driving a delivery truck. Later, Winston worked for Devco, first at #20 Colliery, then as a hoist operator at #26, and finally at Lingan-Phalen mine, from where he retired in June of 1996.
Winston was a man connected to God through nature. His passion was hunting off Sandfield Road, Grand Mira North, or fishing with his buddies by a quiet stream at his favourite spots off the shorelines of the Mira River or Gabarus Lake.
Winston fully embraced life; a true family man, having created many life-long friendships. He was an inspiration, an avid storyteller, with a keen sense of humour, and generous with his time and talents.
He is lovingly remembered by the love of his life, his wife of 63 years, Viola “Olie” (Rigby) and his children, Bernie (Laurie), Wanda Rose, Wenda (Darren), Heather (Gerry Muise), Marlene (Jimmy), Raymond (Lillian), beloved family member, Marie, 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, with another one on the way. He loved and adored puppy dog, Gem.
Winston is also survived by siblings Carol, Sonny (Margie), Robert (Donna), Valerie (Allie), Fred (Elaine), Jamie (Debbie), Audrey, Brian, Blaine (Donna), and Debbie (Mike).
Along with his parents, Winston was predeceased by his son-in-law, Warren Rose, and fur-baby, Cuddles.
