Obituary of Sheldon J Casey

With heartfelt sadness, the family of Sheldon Joseph Casey announces his peaceful death surrounded by family at Veterans Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2023. Sheldon was born on June 7, 1941 in Glace Bay, to the late, Edward and Mary (Pickup) Casey.
As a young man, Sheldon served in the Royal Canadian Army. He then enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as an Electrician, as well as a member of the Canadian Standards Association. His first love was spending time with his family. He was a great storyteller, had a sharp sense of humour, and was generous with his time and talents. Sheldon was an inspiration, making many friendships through his involvement in his church.
He is lovingly remembered as a wonderful family man – husband of 55 years to, Marie (Miller); father of sons, Basil, and Rob (Cherie); daughters, Michelle (Paul), Janice (Kenny), Erin (Karen), Meghan and Evelyn; grandfather of thirteen and great-grandfather of two. He is also survived by brother, Patrick; and sister, Marguerite Sprague.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by brothers, Alfred, Brian, and James Gregory.
A Christian Mass will be celebrated in St. Benedict Church on Tuesday, February 28 at 12:15 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Northeast Margaree.
