Obituary of Kimberley Dawn Barkhouse

Kimberley (Close) Barkhouse, age 52 of Beaver Bank passed away surrounded by her family at the VG Hospital on Tuesday February 21, 2023. Born in Halifax, NS she was the daughter of Michael and Margaret Close. Kim enjoyed her cross stitch and knitting, especially making hats for babies in the NICU at the IWK Children’s hospital as well as her time spent with family and friends. She also cherished her time at the family cottage in Pugwash. She is survived by her husband, Russ of Beaver Bank; and her greatest and proudest achievement, her children, Nick (Rob) Halifax, Rubi Toronto, and Sarah Beaver Bank. As well as her brother, Sean (Kally) Beaver Bank; nephews, Rowan, Braeden & Isaak; and nieces, Gabrielle and Breagh. Predeceased by maternal grandparents, Robert & Doris Howard of Springhill, NS; and paternal grandparents, Stan & Kay Close of Springhill, NS and Moncton, NB. Visitation will take place on Saturday February 25, 2023 from 1pm-3pm in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax, NS. A Celebration of Life service to follow on Saturday 25, 2023 at 3pm in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 71 McQuade Lake Crescent, Halifax, NS. Interment at a later date. Family flowers only. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House Charities Atlantic. The family is very grateful for the outstanding compassion and treatment by the doctors and nurses of the: oncology department at the VG Dickson Center, VG chemotherapy unit and 7A palliative care unit.
