Fred McIvor
Dominion
It is with profound sadness that we the family announce the passing of Fred McIvor on February 18, 2023, with his loving family at his side in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Fred was born on November 17th, 1953, in Glace Bay to the late Fred McIvor and Marie Dezagiacomo (McIvor).
Fred was a proud member of the IBEW Local 1852 for 29 years. His career as an electrician took him around the county forging several friendships along the way.
During Freds younger years, he was an altar server, an air cadet, and boy scout leader. Fred always had a great love of music. His favourite times were spent jamming with his friend’s playing guitar. He enjoyed speaking with people all over the world with his HAM radio as he was a radio enthusiast. He enjoyed sight seeing on his motorcycle across the country, camping and vacations with family in PEI, tailgate tea with his father on the back of the Chevy truck, and Sunday dinners with family. His children were his world and treasured every moment spent with them. He adored his grandchildren, and his favourite pastime was playing and teasing them. With the arrival of the Christmas season, Fred would don his Santa suit and bring joy and warm the hearts of many children with his Ho Ho Ho.
Left to mourn is the love of his life Michelle (Gallant); three children: Amanda Currie (Scott), Troy MacKenzie (Amy) and Michael McIvor (Raylene); Fred is also survived by a sister Cathy Hill (Jimmy), and brother John (Wendy); as well as numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins. Fred’s grandchildren were his pride and joy, Chase, Brayden, Neavah, Ethan, Bryce, Blake, and Amelia.
Predeceased by his sister’s: Irene in infancy, Polly (Charlie), and Theresa.
Family flowers only. For those who wish, donations may be made to the SPCA or the Kidney Foundation.
