Obituary of Joseph Charles Nicholas Boudreau

Joseph Charles Nicholas (Nick) Boudreau, 83 years of age, of Halifax, passed away with his family by his side on January 30, 2023 at QEII hospital. Born in Arichat, Cape Breton on February 8, 1939 the son of Godfrey and Irene (De Coste). Leaving Arichat for Halifax at 17, later joining the Royal Canadian Air Force where he served in France for three years; upon returning to Canada he worked for Imperial Oil sailing on the St. Lawrence Tanker. In 1961, Dad met the love of his life, Barbara (Sam) Garnier marrying in 1963 and having two children; Lorraine and Joey. Dad moved the family to Toronto in 1966 for the next five years. Upon his return to Nova Scotia, Dad made Fairview his home. Dad went to work for Dental Depot (later Patterson Dental) in sales where he excelled as one of the top salesman travelling NS and NB for 42 plus years, retiring at the age of 72. Dad loved his family dearly and that love was returned twofold from his children and grandchildren. He also loved to tell friends and family stories of his life and travels, and all loved to hear them. He was a member of Fairview Legion for 50 plus years, holding several positions including president. Dad was an avid dart player, regular member of the metro cribbage league, enjoyed playing pool with the Fairview Legion league, and was a member of the UTC curling club. He made several special friends at the Fairview Legion. By his request, a special farewell and thank you to his longtime Fairview Legion buddies – you know who you are. Survived by his wife, Sam (Barbara) they would have celebrated their 60th anniversary on March 23, 2023; daughter: Lorraine (Guglielmo), Richmond, BC, children Egidio, Ignazio, and Erianthe; and son: Joseph (Heather), children Emmanuel and Isaiah, Duncan, BC; and brothers: Rene, La Baie, Quebec; Lionel (Joan), New Minas, NS; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his father, Godfrey; mother, Irene; sister, Sister Mary Ernestine and grandson Jeremiah. Many thanks to Dr. Min Lee and all the great nurses in 4.1 at QEII. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held on his birthday February 8, 2023 from 3 pm to 7 pm at Fairview Legion Branch 142 at 50 Hillcrest Street, Fairview.
