Obituary of Eric LeRoy Gazeley

89, of Hammonds Plains passed away January 14, 2023 at Hospice Halifax. Born in Truro, Nova Scotia he was the son of James (Harry) and Myrtle Iona (Roode) Gazeley. Eric is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marilyn Isabel (Miller); sons, Leonard (Colleen), Michael (Colleen Smith), Brian (Joseph Landry); and daughter, Heather (Paul) Bangay; grandchildren, Christopher, Keith, Susan, Keegan, and Patricia Gazeley, Connor Smith, Jenna, and Kate Bangay. Eric was a dedicated husband and father first and foremost. He had a passion for travel and a sense of adventure that he shared with his wife and children. Eric was especially proud of his time as a locomotive engineman from 1951-1990. He would share stories to many people about his time working with CNR. Eric enjoyed working with the animals on his hobby farm and was also known as Mr. Fixit. Predeceased by brother, James Alfred; and sisters, Frances Dalziel and Marjorie Young. The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice Halifax and Nurse Practitioner Amanda Tinning for their support. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Halifax. Following Eric’s wishes there will be no funeral service or visitation.
