Obituary of Richard Cormier

CORMIER, Rich East Bay Peacefully passed away Monday, Jan. 9, 2023. Born in New Waterford, he was a son of the late Dennis and Lucy (Doucet) Cormier. Rich was a devout member of St. Mary's Parish, East Bay. He was an athlete having played hockey and baseball, and also well-known on any golf course. He retired from the Cape Breton Post as an advertising salesman. In his spare time, he detailed cars, delivered flowers, and marshalled at The Lakes golf club. Words can’t describe this loss. He is survived by children, Craig and Trina; brothers, Chebot (Miriam), Antigonish, and Mike (Janet), California; sisters-in-law, Eileen (Wally) Forrester, Allyson Cormier and Jo-Ann Binns all from Sydney; along with many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Sandra (Pottie), brothers, Dan and Joseph ‘Babes’ Cormier, sister-in-law, Faye (Pottie) McIntosh, and brothers-in-law, Joey, Donnie and Terry Pottie. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of T.J. Tracey Funeral Home, 6 Churchill Drive, Sydney, 902-539-7175. A visitation and reception will take place on July 22, 12pm in T.J.
