Obituary of Gloria MacDonald

Gloria Jean MacDonald Tower Road It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gloria (Knox) MacDonald on Jan 8, 2023 at the Glace Bay General Hospital. Gloria was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. Gloria was a very kind, compassionate and caring person and always willing to lend a helping hand. Her favorite pastime was gardening. The more time she got to spend in the garden the better, she could always find another spot to plant a seed. Gloria loved her family, the grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy, she cherished her time with them. She will be sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know her. Gloria is survived by her husband of 59 years, George MacDonald; daughters Marilyn (David) Wiseman, Kim (David) MacLeod, and Glenda (Doug) Thomas, who she loved like her daughter; grandchildren, Brittany, Chelsie, Tyler, Chantelle (Kris) and Renee; great grandchildren, Quinn, Zoey, Luke and Cameron. She is also survived by sisters, Juanita, Linda, Janet, Heather; brothers, John, Alfie (Heather), Norman (Mary), Wallace (Susan), Harold, Glenn (Rose)and brother-in-law Harold Ross; survived by sisters-in-law Mary (Terry) MacKinnon, Debbie (Ralph) Rideout; brothers-in-law Mike (Heather), Manning (Maggie), Percy (Sally) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Clifford and Annie Knox, she was predeceased by her four children whom she missed dearly, Rose Anne, George, Keith and Allan; and siblings Margaret, Jessie, William and Jimmie. Though we are heartbroken you are no longer with us, we do find comfort knowing you are now reunited with your children, parents and siblings in heaven. Love you always and forever. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the ones who spent countless hours providing comfort to Mom as well as Palliative Care, the Nursing Staff and Doctors on 3 South at Glace Bay Hospital. Special thanks to Bernadette (RN), you were very special to our mom. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity close to your heart. Cremation has taken place. A Celebration of life for Gloria will be held Saturday, January 14, 2023 from 1-3 p.m. in the at T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, reception area, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199). The public are asked to use the rear entrance.
