Obituary of Cavan Kelly
Please share a memory of Cavan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cavan Gregory Kelly, a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on December 9, 2022 at the age of 63. Born in Halifax, NS in 1959, Cavan was a kind and loving son, brother, and uncle who had a wide circle of friends.
He spent his childhood playing baseball and spending time with his family, and later pursued his passion for carpentry by building two homes. Cavan was also an active member of his community, volunteering with the Prospect Road basketball association and teaching Sunday school at St. Joseph's Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
In his professional life, Cavan worked for Loblaws Atlantic for decades and was known for his strong work ethic and commitment to his colleagues. In his free time, he enjoyed biking, watching sports, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren Kinley, Ray, Sadie, and Max.
Cavan will be deeply missed by his wife of 20 years, Maxine Kelly; his children, Amanda (Josh), and Jordan (Laura); and his stepson, Neil (Becky). He is also survived by his siblings, Shannon, Chris, Stephen (Joanne), and Lynn; and his predeceased by his brother, Brian.
We want to thank the Nurses and Doctors of the Palliative Care Team for everything they did to make Cavan comfortable. I would like to give special thanks to Darlene Pelley for her “special soup” she made lots of it for Cavan prior to him going to hospital.
Many Thanks also go to Fran Murphy for sending Cavan soups and anything else she could make him to entice eating, Extra special thanks to Wendy Sabean for everything from making Cavan a quilt, to making him food, to mopping the floors, to doing the burial.
A memorial service will be held at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists on December 20, 2022 at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the SPCA.
