Hannah “Anna” (McLean) Fillmore, 86
Glace Bay, NS
With heavy hearts we the family of Hannah “Anna” (McLean) Fillmore, 86 of Glace Bay, are saddened to announce the unexpected passing of our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney on Saturday, December 10, 2022, with her family never leaving her side.
Born in Glace Bay, NS, Anna was the daughter of the late Annie and Fergie McLean.
Anna was a care provider at Victoria Haven Nursing Home for many years. She was known for her infectious smile and enthusiastic sense of humour. She enjoyed a good game of cards, darts, and weekly dancing at Branch 3 Legion. Anna never missed her daytime “soaps” and was a singer of wrong words to many songs. She loved baking, especially blueberry pies with Amanda.
Anna was always happy to enjoy quality time with family over hours of putting together jigsaw puzzles, ensuring to hide the last piece to say she finished the puzzle. Hosting birthdays for her children, even as adults warmed her heart. Her greatest achievement was living long enough to witness her large number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up.
Anna is survived her husband Cyril Fillmore of 40 years; 6 sons: Robert (Lois), Earl, Harry (Camille), Eric (Candida), Kenny (Tammy) and Jamie (Tara); 3 daughters: Marion (Ted), Gail (Frankie), Ann Marie (Gee), and chosen daughter Amanda (David)(granddaughter whom she helped raise like her own); brother Ed (Lynn); sister Mary Lou (Danny); 22 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family.
Along with her parents, Anna was predeceased by two sons Michael and Carl, as well as 5 siblings.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care and compassion of T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS. 902-849-4199. Visitation for Anna will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, from 6-8 p.m., and a Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022, at 11:30 a.m. with Fr. Norman MacPhee, all at Tracey’s Funeral Home.
Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.
We the family of Anna would like to extend a special thank you to the ICU Nursing Team at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Jessica, Michelle, Shantel, Marie, Brennan, and Greg, as well as Dr. Szabo and Dr. Shimon, for their excellent care and compassion given to both Anna and the entire family (Reid).
