It is with heavy hearts that the family of Colleen Marie McPherson, 78, of Glace Bay, announce her passing on Monday, December 12, 2022, on the Palliative Care Unit in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Glace Bay, Colleen was the daughter of the late Joseph and Cora McIsaac.

Colleen was a graduate of St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing, Glace Bay, and most of her career was spent in the Pediatrics Department. She was a long-time parishioner of Holy Family Parish, and later St. Anne’s Parish, where she was active in the Catholic Women’s League and the Parish Council. Colleen was also a volunteer at the Glace Bay Townhouse, as well as Meals on Wheels.

She is survived by her two sons: Paul (Paula Hann), and Craig (Cavell MacNeil); three grandsons: Alex, Colin, and Rory.

Also surviving Colleen are her brother Wayne and his wife, Dawn (Turnbull); two sisters, Cathy Wadden and Marilyn (Chester) Sutherland, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

Along with her parents, Colleen was predeceased by her husband Patrick, infant son Patrick, a sister Valerie (Bill) Norris, and brother-in-law Raymond Wadden.

There will not be a visitation. Rev. Duaine Devereaux will preside over the Memorial Service at 1 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2022, in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS. 902.849.4199. Following the service, interment will be held in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Family flowers only. Memorial donations in Colleen’s memory may be made to the Diabetes Association, or a charity of one’s choice.
