Obituary of Kit Kelly

Catherine “Kit” Rosella Kelly Glace Bay It is with heavy hearts that we, the family announce the peaceful passing of Catherine ‘Kit’ Kelly, age 94 on December 7, 2022, at Seaview Manor surrounded by her loving family. Catherine was the daughter of the late William ‘Bill’ and Alice (Walsh) White. She was an avid bowler; enjoyed shooting darts, playing Bingo everyday if she could, and playing cards, there was nothing like a good game of crib. Kit put her heart and soul into everything that she did. Her and Brother were foster parents, fostering 28 children over the years. She loved swimming and singing, enjoyed a good campfire and spending time at their bungalow on Catalone Lake. In her younger years she was in the military as a clerk serving in Ottawa and Labrador. Kit is survived by her children, Rick (Lynn), Glace Bay, Ginny MacIntyre (Doug), Catalone, Nancy Elliott, Elmsdale, Sandy (Kelley), Ottawa, Russell (Laura), Lawrencetown; grandchildren, Mark (Cherri), Lorne, Keri, Kim (Mark), Matthew (Amanda), Laurie, Robyn, Jennifer, Jordan, and Brandon; several great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; brother-in-law, James Kelly as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 55 years, Edward ‘Brother’ Kelly; several siblings. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. The family would like to thank Dr. Lisa MacInnis, the staff of Palliative Care for all your support and care. To all the staff of Seaview Manor for your care, compassion and kindness given to Kit over the years during her stay there. It will never be forgotten. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 5, 2023 at T. J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, With Fr. Duaine Devereaux officiating; the burial to follow in St. Anne’s Cemetery, Glace Bay. Donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
