Obituary of Basil Everett Varner

VARNER, Basil Everett, Age 88 of Timberlea, it is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Basil Everett Varner on December 3rd, 2022. He was born March 18, 1934 to the late Arthur and Violet (nee Emino) Varner, New Germany. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Yvonne (Russell); daughter, Melanie (Kevin); son, Paul (Sandra); grandchildren, Charlotte, Milo and William; and brother Maynard, and many sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, and sister Faye. At an early age (16) he began working at the Royal Bank for five years. His career provided many opportunities including four years in Bermuda. He retired from Atlantic Tractors and Equipment after 27 years service. He was a member of St. John in the Wilderness Anglican Church, New Germany and Trinity United Church, Timberlea. He was an active participant and volunteer until a fall impacted his mobility. He experienced great joy with Yvonne’s family and delighted in their time together. A highlight for Basil also was gathering with his former classmates for school reunions. The family would like to express their thanks to his various doctors and the staff of the 8th floor of the QEII for their wonderful care.
