BOND, Patricia Ann (Smith) “Pat”
Of Grand Lake, NS, passed away at the QEII Halifax Infirmary on Nov. 15th, 2022 with her daughter Shelley at her side.
Born in Dartmouth, March 21, 1942 to the late George and Florence (Graham) Smith. Before her retirement Pat worked with the Federal Government, CRA.
Pat was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Bond; and her sister, Marlene Nelson.
Pat is survived by her daughters, Shelley, Grand Lake, Karen LeBlanc (David), Dartmouth; and son, Thomas (Amanda), Elmsdale; granddaughters, Hannah (Patrick), Ceilidh (Celal), Marley; and grandson, Archer. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; she was particularly close to her niece, Cindy Nelson, Beaverbank.
Pat took great pride and joy in each of her grandchildren, bragging to others about them often. She was known for her love of animals, most particularly horses and dogs. She had a very real passion for horses which kept her healthy and happy for so many years, still slinging bales of hay and feed bags in Dec. of last year. She was particularly smitten with her poodle, Winston, who was her well loved, steady companion the last 14 years. Pat adored the community she found through St. Margaret’s Church. She had been part of the Prayer Shawl group “I have a certificate in crochet!”; she also loved her time and friends she made in Bible Study at St. Thomas, she felt it challenged her mind; yoga classes with St. Margaret’s and time on Bob’s Beach; she was an active member of the church, helping where she could. Those who knew Pat understood how very strong and determined she could be. This past year was a trying time for Pat with her health issues, and never one to give up she fought every day until she simply could not go on. She is, and will be, terribly missed by all of those who loved her.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the church she so loved, St. Margaret’s Anglican Church, Oakfield.
A service will be held Tuesday, Nov 29th, 11:00 at St. Margaret’s Anglican Church in celebration of Pat’s life. With a reception to follow at the Grand Lake Oakfield Community Hall.
