Obituary of Isaac (Ishak) Yacoub Chidiac
Please share a memory of Isaac (Ishak) to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Isaac (Ishak) Yacoub Chidiac, who lost his valiant fight with cancer on October 18th, 2022, at the Dartmouth General Hospital, surrounded by his wife, children, and family.
Predeceased by his parents, Yacoub and Nazmieh; and his brother, Hanna, Isaac is survived by his beloved wife, Marie; his children, Waleed (Maggie), Kathy (Gerard) and Robert; his grandchildren, Isaac, Dominic, Francesca and Fayez; his brothers, Joseph (Elham), Charlie (Laura) and Baha (Nouha); his sisters, Melia (Yousef), Josephine (Halem), Leila (Salah) and Chadia (Samir); and his many nieces and nephews whom he truly adored.
Immigrating to Halifax in 1971 with the hopes of starting a new chapter in his life, Isaac quickly went on to build two successful businesses from the ground up (John’s Meat Market and Shediac Convenience) and cement himself as a cornerstone of both his community and his family alike. Hard work, sheer determination and unparalleled tenacity allowed Isaac to make his mark on this world and retire at the young age of 43, leaving him to enjoy his remaining years surrounding himself with family and friends, and making frequent trips to his beloved home of Lebanon.
While his two businesses were always a source of tremendous pride, to Isaac his most meaningful life accomplishments were his marriage of 48 years, his three children and four beautiful grandchildren – to Isaac, his family was the world.
There will forever be an empty place in our hearts without Isaac who will always be remembered for his kind heart, gentle words, and witty banter.
Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Lebanon Parish at 111 Clayton Park Drive, Halifax, on Friday, October 21st, 2022, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.
