Obituary of William Romkey

(Bill, Willie), Halifax. It is with much sadness we announce Willie's passing with family by his side on October 17th, 2022. Born in Bridgewater November 18, 1947 he was the son of Lorne and Virginia (Baete) Romkey. He was a graduate of Saint Francis Xavier University, Antigonish and taught school in Toronto and Nova Scotia. His interests were art, history, and architecture. We are convinced he knew every house on any importance in NS, NB and PEI and had pictures of them. He did extensive travel and spent many winters in St. Simons, Georgia but nothing could top his love of Riverport and the whole of Lunenburg County. Willie was a kind and gentle soul and never met a stranger and many of those strangers became close friends. He is survived by his sister, Lorna-Jane (Romaine) Cook, sister Anne Marie Howlett; brother-in-law, Gary Moore; and sister-in-law, Nancy Rogers. He was predeceased by his spouse, Robert (Bob) Thomson; brother, Peter; and brother-in-law, Gary Howlett. The family would like to thank the staff at the QE II and the VG Palliative Care Unit where he received the most compassionate and kind care one could imagine.
