Powell, Helen Clair – passed away peacefully at home in Halifax, Tuesday, May 1, 2018. Born in Halifax, September 19, 1944, she was the daughter of Frederick and Ada Powell (O’Malley). She was an avid bowler, idolized the Blue Jays and loved to dance. Helen retired in 1997 from Nova Scotia Power after 35 years of service. She was a regular parishioner of St. Lawrence/Saint Benedict Parish and in recent years, was a member of the Prayer Shawl Ministry and of a funeral reception team at Saint Benedict. She is survived by sisters Carole (Paul); Debbie; brother Alan; nieces and nephews: Paul, Michael, Terri and Peter Cugno; Kenny, Greg and Jordan Walsh; Colin Horgan and Keara Ashton; great aunt Eleanor Brunt; numerous cousins including life long friend and cousin Jeanne Batt. She was predeceased by her parents and sister Judy Horgan. The Funeral Mass will be held in Saint Benedict Catholic Church, 45 Radcliff Dr., Halifax, Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at 10:30 am. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Tom Baker Cancer Centre/Alberta Health or a charity of your choice.
