Obituary of Fabian 'Fay" Martin

MARTIN, Fabian ‘Fay’ Glace Bay, NS It is with broken hearts that we the family regret to announce the peaceful passing of our loving father (Da), Pops and Grandpa, Fabian ‘Fay’ Martin, 82, on Monday, October 17, 2022. Born in Glace Bay (The Hub) on December 19,1939, Fay was the son of the late Billy and Madge (Boone) Martin. Da is survived by his loving children Cheryl (Tommy) MacDonald, Michelle (Joey) Nightingale, Arlene Burt, Bradley (Karen) Martin, stepson Alex (Joyce) Matheson, Grandkids Jennifer, Kyle, Faye, Michael, Emily, Ethan, Stephen, Dylan, as well as five great grandchildren. Grandpa will be greatly missed by Lyla and Kayden. He is also survived by his sister Cecilia Lynk, brothers Bill (Kathy), Paul (Liz), and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, Fay is predeceased by his wife Diane “Chuckie” (Matheson), and many brothers and sisters. In his earlier years he worked as an insulator for Heat and Frost, Local 116 and his greatest love was being surrounded by his family. Da was a kind, gentle, patient man with a great sense of humor who was always ready for a laugh and a “shot or wha?” with friends and family. We would like to thank the staff at Taigh Na Mara. We cannot express the amount of appreciation we have for everyone that devoted their care and compassion for Da. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Cremation has taken place. Visitation for the late Fay Martin will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2022, from 9:30-10:30 a.m., in T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay, NS. 902-849-4199, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 10:30 a.m., with Lillian MacDonald presiding.
