Please share a memory of Archie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Archie Duncan (AD) Kenny, 78 of Halifax, passed away May 2, 2018 at home surrounded by family. He was born and raised in Caledonia Mills, Antigonish County, NS. He was the son of John Francis and Johanna (Rogers) Kenny. Archie or A.D. was well known and loved by anyone who met him. He had a great sense of humour, treated people kindly and had a tremendous love for family and friends. Throughout the years his home was a place to stay for many, or for anyone to drop by and visit a while. Memorable kitchen parties and gatherings took place over the years where good music played and food and drinks were shared. During the warmer months you would find Archie with his family and friends at their cottage where he would enjoy tinkering and puttering around with his tool belt and hammer in hand. Archie enjoyed boating on the lake and sitting by the bonfire with loved ones at night. Through work, Archie made countless friends as an insurance adjuster for many years throughout NS. He first began his career with Mackay and Jollimore Ltd. He was also a member of “The Blue Goose”, with his friends in the insurance business. Eventually, he started his own company “Bennett and Kenny Ltd.” with his long time friend John. After retirement, he returned to work for the government during the aftermath of the Jaun hurricane. It seemed anywhere Archie went, there was always someone calling out his name or giving him a big hello. Archie participated and had an interest in many sports. As an avid and skilled golfer, Archie would spend countless early mornings with his friends on the greens of the Ashburn Golf Course where he earned 3 holes in one. Archie was also a big hockey fan and followed the “Montreal Canadians” throughout the years. He enjoyed playing recreational hockey with his friends and was known for putting the points on the score board. Survived by his loving wife Elizabeth (Engram) of 52 years; daughters, Patricia Whitehead and Shawna Kenny-Clark; sons-in–laws, Phillip Clark and Shane Whitehead; brothers, Gerard (Rhonda) Kenny, Gary (Sharon) Kenny, Jerome (Linda) Kenny; sisters, Mary Wood, Rose Bork, Kathleen (Tom) Cahill, Genevieve (John) Mackley; sister-in-laws, Ida Kenny and Isabelle Kenny; grandchildren, Micheala, Mackenzie, Maxwell, Archie; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.
