Raymond Arthur Poole, 81, passed away peacefully Wednesday, April 3, 2019 at QEII, surrounded by his family.
Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Nathan and Hazel (Pryor) Poole.
In his early years, Ray worked as a Merchant Marine which, when docked in Sydney, is where he met his wife, Alvena (Sis). He worked many years as an iron worker in Halifax, Toronto, and Regina. Ray loved nature and classic country music, he enjoyed fishing at the camp at Mill Lake, driving to Point Pleasant Park and Fisherman’s Wharf with his wife, complaining about American politics, and spending time with his family.
Survived by his wife of 60 years, Alvena (Burchell); daughters, Raylene (Charlie), Carole (Dave), Jeannie (Ken); sons Brent (Sherry), Chris (Angela); sister, Ruth; brother, Jim; grandchildren, Randalene, Justin, Kristy, Mike, Brandon, Megan, Brady, Ashley, Kayla, Jordan; great-grandchildren, Mariah, Tori-Lynn.
Predeceased by sisters, Gladys and Joyce. Cremation has taken place. There will be no visitation or funeral service, by request.
