Obituary of Florence Maurina O'Neill

Florence M. O’Neill Reserve Mines, NS. It is with profound sadness that we the daughters announce the passing of our loving mother, Florence O’Neill on Thursday, September 22, 2022, at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Mary Agnes (Gillis) Gallant. Mom was a homemaker, who was always surrounded by children, not only her children but the neighbourhood kids, she played ball with them, took them skating, the house was continuously full. Mom enjoyed puzzles, playing cards, watching movies, and working outdoors. She took wonderful care of our dad when he took ill, until his passing. Florence is survived by her loving daughters, Joanne (Ron), Brenda (Scott) and Belinda (Bob); her wonderful grandchildren, Devon, Kara (Kevin), Hillary (Davian), Jordan (Renee), Haley (Brent) and Rachel; her cherished great grandchildren McKenna, Sophia, Wyatt, Weston, Willow, Walker, Ben, Hailey, Leah, Hayden, Laylah, Gavin, Rylan, Neveah, and Mya; sister, Winnifred; sisters-in-law, Mildred, Francie, and Mary as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Florence was predeceased by her husband, Leo, brothers, John, Angus, Walter, Ambrose, and sister Marguerite; In-laws, Leo and Lolly O'Neill; as well as son in law David Donovan (who was more like a son to mom). The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital for the care and compassion given to our mother, during her time there. Cremation has taken place.
