Obituary of Margaret Elizabeth Dwyer

Dwyer, Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Margaret, age 83, of Bedford, passed away May 2, 2019 at Hants Community Hospital, Windsor NS. She was born in Halifax, the first daughter of the late Lionel and Margaret Lively of Bedford. Betty is survived by her sons Kevin (Lisa) and Jeffrey (Emily), sister, Madeline (Mort) MacKay-Kelly, brother, Lloyd ‘Bud’ Lively, sisters in law, June Dwyer and Joan Lively, grandchildren, Brett, Ben and McKenna, as well as many close nieces, nephews and extended family. She was predeceased by Murray, her loving husband of 53 years, brother, Gordon Lively, brother in law, Murdock MacKay, sister in law, Carol-Anne Lively, brother and sister in law, Aubrey and Mary Dwyer. Betty was a proud life-long member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Bedford. In 1954 she graduated from Mount Saint Vincent Academy and worked in a number of office administrator positions before retiring in 1999. She loved working and always had fond memories of her jobs and the people she worked with. Betty and Murray were married in 1964. That year they purchased their first home where they raised their boys and lived the rest of their lives. Betty loved her home and being able to share the years with nearby family and friends, especially around holidays, Easter being one of her favourite times of year. She cared so much for those around her and always had nice words to say about everyone she met. She loved animals and had many dearly loved pets over the years. She was a dedicated and loving daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family were truly the pride, joy and light of her life. This wonderful woman will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. A funeral service will be held Thursday May, 09, 2019, at 1:30 p.m., St. Ignatius Church, 5 Bedford St, Bedford, N.S. Reception to follow at the church hall. The private Interment will take place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lower Sackville N.S. following the reception. Betty’s family would like to express their deep appreciation and thanks to the staff members of Hants Community Hospital as their care and courtesy were above and beyond. In lieu of flowers please make any donations to the charity of your choice in Betty’s memory.
