Alice (Babes) Donovan, 75
Glace Bay, NS
It is with great sadness, we the family regret to announce the peaceful passing of Alice (Babes) Donovan with her loving family by her side in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney in the early morning hours of September 11, 2022, after a short but lengthy illness. She was reunited with her youngest and oldest boys. Fitting that mom would return to greet her baby boy Michael, whom she lost in 1989 on his birthday of September 11. What a gift to give him indeed, it was time for us to share her.
Born and raised in Number 2 to the late Alice (Fahey) and John James Campbell.
Mom married her loving husband of 56 years, Wish Donovan and together raised 4 children, along with all the additional kids in our neighborhood, in which mom was so proud of.
Mom was a homebody, the place she was most comfortable, she also loved spending her time in Framboise, where she devoted many of weekends with her friends and family. She loved her smokes and Diet 7Up, they were with her anywhere she went.
Left to mourn the loss of Alice is her husband Wish; son: Jimmy (Karen), Petawawa; daughter: Raylene (Lesley), New Waterford; daughter-in-law: Lisa, PEI; her loving grandchildren: Emma (Tyler), Devon, Alyssa, and Ainsley, who was her baby girl here in Cape Breton, whom she shared a special loving bond; great-grandchild: Hayes; twin brother’s: Jim (Elizabeth), Donnie ( Michelle), and Eric (Lorna); best friend: Bev MacPherson; her beloved fur baby Paris, as well as brother and sisters-in-law’s, and several nieces and nephews.
Mom was predeceased by her boys Eric and Michael, granddaughters Sarah and Olivia, as well as a brother Tommy. We take great comfort knowing that they were waiting for her on the other side with open arms.
We would like to thank Dr. Cadegan, Dr. Morrison, Dr. Burns, as well as the nurses and staff in the CCU, at the CBRH, who made mom the most comfortable with the greatest compassion and care in her final moments with us.
