Obituary of Cael Kenny

Cael Kenny, 26, of Halifax, Nova Scotia, died on September 9th, 2022 after a long struggle with mental illness. The youngest daughter of a large and close-knit family, Cael was a loving, intelligent, generous, kind-hearted and gentle soul. She was passionate about the natural world, cooking, literature, social justice, and equality for people from all walks of life, especially the transgender community. Cael believed in the possibility of a better world, and intended to live her life in service of that world. She is survived by her parents Pamela and Stephen, her sisters Kerrin Rafuse, Elliott Gish, and Stephanie Kenny, and her niece Amelia Rafuse. Cael had family in Canada and England, and friends all around the world. We would like to thank our families, partners, friends, and other loved ones for their invaluable support in this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Nova Scotia Youth Project or Nova Scotia Rainbow Action Project in Cael’s name. A private cremation has already taken place, but please join us for a celebration of Cael’s life on Friday, September 16th from 5-7 at 70 Gary Martin Drive. All are welcome.
