Dear Carmel and family: Evelyn and I were deeply saddened to learn of Alex J.‘S recent passing and send along our sympathy and condolences to you and all the family.Alex Anguses were very close relatives and were very much part of our lives,even though the years and changing circumstances didn’t provide for frequent contact.As a youngster growing up spent a lot of time at Union St. Learning bagpipes from Alex Angus and playing in the Cape Breton Highlanders pipe band with him,including at the Causeway Opening on 13 Aug.1955..pictures of that historic event shows both of marching proudly across when they officially joined the ‘rest of Canada’ to Cape Breton! Also I played the lament at Alex Angus funeral on the wild rainy day of his burial. Many fond memories of our Piping times together and Diane step dancing with her father at many CB concerts and highland Games.
