Dolores “Dee” Yvonne Murphy
Glace Bay (Bridgeport)
April 3rd, 1959
It is with profound sadness and devastation that the family announce the sudden passing of Dolores “Dee” Yvonne Murphy, age 63, on August 19th, 2022, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Walter and Alice MacDonald from Gardiner Mines.
Dee is survived by loving husband, Joe, married for 43 years, together for 50. Children: Ryan J, New Brunswick, Brittany (Dr.Robert McFadgen), Maine, twins Jordan, Jeffrey (Maggie); grandsons Colson and Connell McFadgen (Grandma FaceTimed multiple times daily…they were her world). Also survived by brothers Danny (Margaret Ann), Glenn (Sandra, Allison, Garrett); sisters-in-law, Cheryl Murphy, Crystal Murphy (Jamie, Maddy, Alivia).
Predeceased by parents; God parents Ellen and Billy McKinnon; granddaughter, Haven Murphy. Dee was a kind and natural caregiver as CCA at Celtic Court. Her co-workers were like family and she took great pride in always going the extra mile for her residents whom she loved dearly. She also made so many long time friends at her previous job working at Sobeys.
Dee touched the lives of so many with her easy smile, friendship and her kind and generous nature. You could always count on mom for anything. She treasured her children and grandchildren and embraced every moment with them. Special place in her heart for family dog Marley, cats Hobbes and George, and grand-dog Nellie Bell. Dolores was like a magnet to the color purple & loved things that sparkled (much like herself).
Butterflies and hummingbirds were significant to her and the the two blue jays who regularly visited Tulip St. were symbolic of her mom and dad. Each child felt she was their best friend; late night conversations at the kitchen table, coffee runs, and walks on the beach with dog Marley are just a few of the memorable moments we will miss with our mom. The Murphy family would like to thank EHS, the nurses and doctors in the Cape Breton Regional Emergency Department for their care and compassion.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 25 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at T.J. Tracey’s Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St, Glace Bay, NS (902-849-4199). Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 26th at Immaculate Conception Parish, Bridgeport, with Fr. Daniel Boudreau officiating, In lieu of donations family request you do a kind deed for someone in memory of Dolores.
'Your life was a blessing and your memory a treasure. You are loved beyond words and missed beyond measure.'
