Christine Mary “Chickie” (Curry) MacNeil

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother, and friend. Chickie passed away peacefully at Maple Hill Manor on Thursday, August 18th, 2022, with her family by her side.
Born in Reserve Mines on June 15th, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Johnnie and Hattie (McPherson) Curry.
Chickie was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was employed with Cape Breton County Homemakers until her retirement in 2001.
Chickie is survived by her three children, Derrick (Charlene), Western Shore, NS, Krista (Shannon) McCormick, Reserve Mines, and Brendon, Guelph, Ontario. Four beautiful granddaughters, Taylor (Jeremy), Kennedy, Lauryn, and Ava. Chickie will be fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Thomas “Nooker”; sisters, Marilyn MacDonald “Sis”, Rita Wilson “Muddy”, and Barbara Mason; brothers Lloyd, Michael, Gordon, and John.
A memorial service will be held September 1st, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at T.J. Tracey Cremation and Burial Specialists, 370 Reserve St., Glace Bay NS 902-849-4199) Memorial donations in Chickie’s memory may be made to St. Joseph’s/ Holy Family Cemetery Fund.
